How to Teach Your Children About Jesus
Hey Mama, I’m so glad you’re here!Have you ever found yourself wondering how to teach your kids about Jesus? You're not alone — and today’s episode is here to encourage you.
In this heartfelt conversation, I’m breaking down the pressure of feeling like you have to “teach” theology and instead reminding you that kids learn best by seeing, hearing, and experiencing. Jesus doesn’t need to be a complicated topic — He can be a natural part of your family’s everyday life. From the songs you sing to the way you show love and handle life’s messy moments, you are already showing your kids who Jesus is.
Mama, the best way to teach your children about Jesus isn’t by having all the right answers — it’s by living a life that shows His love. When they see your faith, your joy, and your relationship with Jesus, they’ll start seeking Him for themselves.

Finding Your Identity in Motherhood
Wednesday Apr 02, 2025
Wednesday Apr 02, 2025
Hey, Mama! We’re diving deep into the heart of a struggle that many of us face as we walk the path of motherhood—our identity.
Have you ever found yourself wondering, "Who am I now?" between the laundry piles, snack requests, and constant need for cuddles? You're not alone, Mama! The world may try to define you by what you do, but God calls you by who you are—a child of the King.
In today’s episode, we explore:
How motherhood can shift and sometimes blur our sense of self
The importance of finding our identity in God, not in the world’s expectations
A powerful story from John 5 about redefining who we are through God’s eyes
How to focus on God to give us lasting, unshakable peace and identity
Join Alyssa as she shares how to stop looking for identity in the world’s distractions and start focusing on Jesus, the only one who can truly heal and redefine us as moms.
Key Takeaways:
Embrace that your identity as a mom doesn’t define everything about who you are.
The beauty of motherhood is about loving our children, but we must also love the person God created us to be.
It’s never too late to rediscover who you are in Christ.
Even in the chaos, God has a steady, unchanging identity for you to walk in—one that will never fade.
Scripture Reference:John 5:2-9 – The healing of the crippled man and the reminder that our true identity comes from Jesus.
Stay encouraged, Mama. No matter what the world says, God’s love for you is constant and unchanging. Keep your eyes on Him as you walk this beautiful journey of motherhood!

Scriptures to Pray While Cleaning
Wednesday Mar 26, 2025
Wednesday Mar 26, 2025
Hey Mama! 🌸 Whether you’re knee-deep in spring cleaning or just tidying up, today’s episode is for you! We’re chatting about how you can bring God into your cleaning routine by praying scripture over your home while you scrub, dust, and wipe. 🙏✨
If you’re like me, spring cleaning hits, and suddenly, you want to clean everything, open all the windows, and maybe even get a little too ambitious with that to-do list. But while you're at it—why not turn your cleaning time into a powerful prayer session?
In this episode, I’m sharing some beautiful scriptures you can pray over every room of your house. From your front door to your kids' bedrooms, you’ll discover how to invite God's peace, order, and love into every nook and cranny of your home. Trust me, it’s not only about dusting—it's about creating a space where God’s presence can dwell.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
Inviting God’s Presence: Begin at your front door, declaring your home as a place for God’s peace.
Praying for a Spirit of Order: Even in your living room (and toy chaos!), pray for peace and cooperation.
Cleansing Your Heart & Kitchen: As you wipe those counters, ask God to cleanse your heart and renew your spirit.
Rest & Renewal in Bedrooms: Pray for peaceful sleep and comfort for your whole family.
Gratitude in Laundry: Yes, even folding socks can be a prayer moment—pray over your family’s clothes and your servant heart.
Guarding Your Words in the Bathroom: As you prep for the day, ask God to help you speak life and encouragement.
These simple prayers and scriptures are a great way to multitask while cleaning—giving you the chance to strengthen your faith and fill your home with the peace of God as you go about your day.
📜 All the scriptures mentioned in this episode are available in the blog post.

The Day I Lost My Kids - God's Plans for Fear
Wednesday Mar 19, 2025
Wednesday Mar 19, 2025
Today, we’re diving deep into a story from my own life—a moment when I thought I lost my kids.
Picture this: a busy play place, my youngest (just 2 years old) exploring a space for the first time, and my 5-year-old, full of courage and responsibility, reassuring me that he’d take care of his little brother. But then—**they vanished.**
What followed was a frantic search, a prayer under my breath, and a sudden reminder of God’s perfect plan for us in times of fear and anxiety. As I reflect on this terrifying experience, I couldn’t help but think about how *my plan* for my children was similar to the one God gives us when we face fear. And guess what? My 5-year-old had learned to follow the plan I had given him, and I realized—**we can all do this too.**
In today’s episode, I talk about:
**How to Respond to Fear**: What happened when I lost my kids at the play place and how my son followed the plan I’d taught him, even in a panic moment. **God’s Plan for Fear**: Just like I gave my son a plan to stay calm, God offers us a plan when fear strikes. Psalm 56:3 says, *“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”* We’ll explore how to trust God during times of uncertainty.
**4 Steps to Overcoming Fear**: Just as my son took action to find safety and comfort, we can do the same by following God’s plan: 1. **Remove yourself from the fearful situation.** 2. **Get into a quiet, safe space.** 3. **Seek God’s Word and comfort through prayer.** 4. **Let God pick you up**—just like a parent reassures a child, God is always there to guide us through our fears.
**A Simple Plan with Big Impact**: Preparing for moments of fear with prayer, Scripture, and trust in God’s plan helps us move through the scariest moments with peace.
I also dive into how the enemy uses fear to distract us from hearing God's voice and trusting His plan. In those moments, it’s crucial to stay grounded in faith, focus on God’s promises, and know that He’s with us every step of the way.
So grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and listen as we unpack the lessons of faith, trust, and God's unwavering presence in our lives.

Little Bit of Lavender
Where did the inspiration for “Busy Moms, Christian Homes” come from? My blog, Little Bit of Lavender. The more I wrote, the more I realized moms needed another way to be encouraged. Sometimes you don’t have five minutes to sit and read but you do have five minutes to listen while completing other tasks! So this podcast is an extension of the resources available on my website so moms can build a Christian home while they are cooking, cleaning and loving their babies. If you have an extra minute or need more resources, check out my website Little Bit of Motherhood for all things lavender!
