Hey Mama! We're back into September routines — whether that's back to school, back to homeschool, or just back to reality. Lunchtime can feel a little icky for kids: they're hungry, tired, and sometimes just need a pick-me-up in the middle of the day to remind them they're loved.
In this episode I'm sharing 15 lunchbox notes (10 general + 5 for the harder days) you can tuck into your kids' lunch — most are tied to scripture, a few are just things I say to my own boys. These are things you can write on a post-it, reuse whenever you need them, and keep in your back pocket for the monotonous stretches later in the year when routines start to feel boring.
We'll talk about:
15 lunchbox notes you can send today (grab the full list + verses on the blog)
Why filling your kids' love cups matters, especially when you can't be there with them
Praying over your child's lunchbox as you pack it
The High-Low-Buffalo way to talk about their day when they get home
A reminder to fill your own cup too, Mama — you can't pour from empty
You've got this, Mama. Grab your tea, hit play, and let's get into it.

Sometimes faith is hardest when God allows something we love to be taken away.
In this personal episode, Alyssa shares the story of losing her beloved horse, mAJor, and how she came to see that God had given him to her for a season—and then took him away when she could no longer carry everything he represented.
Drawing from Job 1:21, Alyssa reflects on what it means to trust that God is good both when He gives and when He takes away. If you're walking through grief, change, or a season that feels like more than you can handle, this episode is a reminder that you were never meant to carry it all alone.

What if the ordinary moments of motherhood are the very places where God wants to meet you?
In this episode, Alyssa shares a simple tradition she uses with her boys—High, Low, Buffalo—and explains how this fun family conversation can transform your prayer life. While we often bring our biggest celebrations and hardest struggles to God, we tend to overlook the everyday, ordinary moments. But those "buffalo" moments matter too.
You'll be encouraged to invite God into every part of your day, from folding laundry and making lunches to playground adventures and unexpected mishaps. As you learn to recognize His presence in the ordinary, you'll discover that faith is built one small conversation at a time.

Little Bit of Lavender
Where did the inspiration for “Busy Moms, Christian Homes” come from? My blog, Little Bit of Lavender. The more I wrote, the more I realized moms needed another way to be encouraged. Sometimes you don’t have five minutes to sit and read but you do have five minutes to listen while completing other tasks! So this podcast is an extension of the resources available on my website so moms can build a Christian home while they are cooking, cleaning and loving their babies. If you have an extra minute or need more resources, check out my website Little Bit of Motherhood for all things lavender!
